These plants are more advanced in maturity that others offered and has never had chemicals or pesticides introduced at anytime during growth. Our first concern is the health of the butterflies and everything living in the eco system. Humans benefit from cleaner environment too. Stronger plants and stronger butterflies.
The native varieties die off in the winter and come back in the spring. Don't be fooled, the roots are still there under the ground during the winter. This helps prevent disease in plants and encourages the Monarchs to migrate during the winter since no more milkweed to lay their eggs. During migration Western Monarchs don't replicate and live longer than those during the summer, but remain dormant until spring where they will show up in your garden and surprise you!
California's narrow-leaf Milkweed ismore garden tolerance than most of the other native species. Asclepias fascicularis is a perennial with three foot tall stem and large (but narrow) five inch leaves, and a five inch or so flower cluster.
